It’s a day ending in Y and that must mean there’s a new “Who’s the Next Bond?!” rumour, with the latest honour going to none other than buzzy Bodyguard star and Game of Thrones alum, Richard Madden.

To the uninformed, Bond rumours should largely always be taken with a grain of salt, with this latest emerging by way of British tabloid The Sun. The paper claims that Madden has sufficiently impressed Bond producer Barbara Broccoli so much that their source details: “It’s seriously looking like he [Madden] is going to get the job. Not only is he on top of Barbara’s list, but she is preparing to offer the role.”

Madden’s name has been whispered about in the press since the debut of Bodyguard late this summer, with the Cinderella actor joining the ranks of the oft-touted Idris Elba, Poldark’s Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy, James Norton, and even Damien Lewis in being connected with the part.

At least for the immediate future, however, the part still belongs to Daniel Craig – currently at work on his supposed final 007 adventure under the direction of True Detective helmer Cary Fukunaga. The untitled Bond feature is currently set to arrive in February 2020.
