The Woman in Black 2 confirmed!
On April 2nd, British horror company ‘Hammer’ announced that a sequel to the box office smash ‘The Woman in Black’ would definitely be getting a sequel entitled ‘The Woman in Black: Angels of Death’.
The film (based on the book by Susan Hill) earned a whopping $20 million on its opening weekend, breaking box office records and quickly became the highest grossing British horror movie for the last 20 years. It would be a big finacial move for the company and of course makes sense after the success of the first installment.
So for those who have seen the film, you’re probably asking yourselves ‘How can there be a sequel after that ending?’
Well, for a start, the film will be set 40 years after the events of the first one and will focus on ‘a couple and the experience they have when they encounter the Eel Marsh house.
Author Susan Hill has been taken on board to work closely with screenwriter Jon Croker who will be writing the sequel.
There is currently no director as it has yet to be announced if Jane Goldman shall return to direct. There have been no or cast announcements and it is unclear if Daniel Radliffe will return as Arthur Kipps, but it is expected that some big names will definitely be involved in the project.
Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media and President & CEO of Hammer Films, Simon Oakes, stated:
“We are proud and honoured to be working with Susan again on The Woman in Black: Angels of Death, a wonderful new tale every bit as atmospheric and terrifying as its predecessor The Woman in Black.”
The Woman In Black: Angels of Death is slated for a 2013/2014 release.
