The Desolation of Smaug: European Premiere Highlights
Some premieres are modest affairs, or at least as modest as a Hollywood premiere can be. Journalists and fans will flock to the theatre to chat to the stars, but on the whole the spectacle is maintained. Then there’s The Hobbit in which the premieres are transformed into a media event streamed live for people around the world to enjoy. Of course this is a fantastic piece of promotional material for a film sold on its epicness.
The second part of Peter Jackson’s trilogy has been shortlisted for visual effects and is therefore eligible for nomination, so this film will be ramping up the PR over the coming month. The premiere was held last night in Berlin, so for those of us Westerners with a full time job, here are the highlights for your viewing pleasure…
