The Best Stand-Up Comedy in London
A comedy event is the ideal way to unwind from the worries of everyday life. Kids getting on your nerves? Is your boss getting on your nerves? You will hear a comic laughing about their own problems, sharing amusing tales, and overall lighting up your evening if you go to a comedy concert. Jokes are always easy to find in London’s comedy clubs.
And if you know where to look, there are hundreds of pubs, restaurants, and theaters across the city that are packed with some real stand-up individuals. You will also get a taste of the greatest up-and-coming talent, as well as the chance to see established comedians test out new material. Here is where to get outstanding comedy in London, from huge names to fringe improv groups.
Big Belly Comedy Club
Unlike the typically cramped comedy club cellars, the Big Belly Comedy Club London has a large, covered, and heated beer garden in addition to its interior stage – ideal for the prolonged drinking that often accompanies many of these evenings. You can dine and drink outside here, too.
Otherwise, you will find seven days of stand-up a week and comedians of varying levels of celebrity aiming to make you laugh. This is one of the best venues for Stand Up Comedy London has to offer, and it is beloved for a reason.

Banana Cabaret
The Banana Cabaret is a classy, classic favorite. The line-ups are packed with comedy regulars, from TV stand-ups like Ed Byrne and Omid Djalili to award-winners including Njambi McGrath and Jenny Collier, so it is usually a solid guarantee that you will discover a hit here. It has been The Bedford pub’s Club Room for the previous four decades, and following a multi-million-pound renovation, it is now an intimate, elegant, Spiegeltent-style cabaret area with individual tables, sweeping ribbons of satin across the ceiling, and a mezzanine level with a superb view of the stage.
Comedy on the Thames
Comedy on the Thames offers some of the biggest and most promising performers every Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday evening. On weekends, prominent comedians from television and the stand-up circuit will take to the stage. On Tuesday nights, you will be treated to all-new material from established superstars trying out gags and rising talents.
Soho Comedy Factory
What better way to get through the middle of the week blues than to have a good laugh at The Blue Posts pub? Every Wednesday, the traditional pub invites comedians you will recognize from big shows like Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, and other shows. With the venue located conveniently in Soho, in the middle of London, it is the ideal after-work activity.
Live at the Chapel
Live at the Chapel is a comedy night worth making a trip to, taking place beneath the vaulted ceilings of the spectacular and ancient Union Chapel. The line-ups, which take place once a month, are focused on quality rather than number and consist of 4 or 5 comedians, generally featuring one or two household names along with some fresh talent. They are backed up by a terrific live band and a tea caddy, and if you eat at the Chapel’s café, you will be helping their in-house charity for the homeless.
