Rian Johnson To Create Brand New ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy
We’re little over a month away now, until we finally see Star Wars: The Last Jedi (14th December UK!) directed by Looper director Rian Johnson in cinemas.
Judging this major news released by Lucasfilm. You can only suspect they’re quite impressed with his efforts on this latest instalment, after the recent departures of Colin Trevorrow (Episode IX), along with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Solo: A Star Wars Story)
It has been confirmed today, that Johnson will be sticking with the franchise to create a completely new trilogy with fresh characters separate from the Skywalker saga, where he will also be on script writing duty for the first film. Producing the opening entry will be his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was full of praise for Johnson, stating:
‘We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi. He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.’
