Pitt/Fincher Teaming Up For 20,000 Leagues?

The mix of the acting talents of evergreen Brad Pitt and the directorial prowess of David Fincher, has proved potent in recent years. The antics of Tyler Durden in ‘Fight Club’. Defying the aging process with ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. After his delve into ‘adaptation avenue’ with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it seems Fincher is ready to follow suit with his next project.

According to Variety, Fincher is gearing up to provide his own interpretation of Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under The Sea’. Being made for Disney, they have placed a three month hold on the project. Acknowledging the financial implications that would come with a potential visual effects heavy film, the green light has yet to be officially given.

Nonetheless, Fincher has declared his interest in involving Pitt and his preference is to have the Killing Them Softly star play Ned Land. To the uninitiated, the book is based around the water based adventures of Captain Nemo and his beloved vessel The Nautilus.

We’ll remain cautiously optimistic for now considering the intriguing combo. But after the recent box office disaster that was John Carter.. it’s hardly a surprise the execs at Disney have shown a degree of reluctance.
