Marion Cotillard Headlines Trailer For From The Land Of The Moon

After her involvement in the videogame adaptation Assassin’s Creed received mostly lukewarm reviews earlier this year, Marion Cotillard is back in her native France this Summer in From The Land Of The Moon.

In what is already proving to be a jam-packed year for Cotillard with the forthcoming Rock’nRoll and Ismael’s Ghosts, the trailer for the film sees her character Gabrielle Rabascal whose illness ultimately drives her away from Alex Brendemuhl’s Jose and into the arms of Louis Garrel’s Andre.

Based on the novel by Milena Agus and directed by Nicole Garcia, this looks set to prove another tender and impassioned showcase for the Oscar-winning actress’ talents.

From The Land Of The Moon is released in UK cinemas on 9th June.

‘Gabrielle (Marion Cotillard) comes from a small village in the south of France, at a time when her dream of true love is considered scandalous, and even insane. Against her will, Gabrielle’s parents marry her to José (Alex Brendemühl), an honest and loving Spanish farmer who they think will make a respectable woman of her. When she is sent away to the Alps to treat her kidney stones, André (Louis Garrel), a dashing injured veteran of the Indochina war, rekindles the passion buried inside of her. With this newfound love, Gabrielle yearns to run away with André, freeing herself from a marriage which seems to imprison her. This time, she’s determined to follow her dream.’
