M.Night Shyamalan Confirms Unbreakable/Split ‘Sequel’
He’s always been well-renowned for his killer narrative twists. But today, M.Night Shyamalan may have provided his most audacious to date.
Now the thought of a cinematic universe with the director at the helm say a few years ago, would have filled many cinemagoers with dread, as offerings like The Last Airbender and The Happening were being mauled by critics.
But with this year’s engrossing psychological thriller Split starring James Mcavoy (this year’s Atomic Blonde) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), many marked the film as a real return to form for Shyamalan, complete with its shock resolution.
Couple this with the much-loved comicbook mystery Unbreakable with Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Samuel L.Jackson (Kong: Skull Island) as the film’s dynamic duo.
The narrative jigsaw pieces have now been assembled for Shyamalan to complete an unlikely trilogy. Announcing the news via his Twitter page, the respective casts of both films will assemble for Glass, which is to be released in January 2019.
We at Movie Marker, can hardly contain our excitement for this one! Let’s hope it continues the upward trend in the quality of Shyamalan’s work…
