The British Independent Film Awards are second behind the BAFTAs as one of the most influential film awards in the UK, and the 2016 award winners are in.

American Honey has four awards, the most on the night, including best actress and best director. I, Daniel Blake has picked up two acting awards for Dave Johns and Hayley Squires (promising newcomer). However, all Academy eyes will be on Moonlight, which yet again beat Manchester by the Sea, this time to best international film.
