Latest Details on ‘Hobbit Trilogy’!

Despite resounding reservations from many fans of the original LOTR trilogy, it is now common knowledge that the directorial god of Middle Earth Peter Jackson will stretch J.R.R Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ over three installments instead of the originally pencilled two.

With the opener ‘An Unexpected Journey’ mere months away, Jackson has allowed himself to dripfeed us details on parts 2 and 3. The second film has had its title confirmed, entitled ‘The Desolation of Smaug’. This goes against the original plan by Warner Bros, which was to name the middle section ‘The Battle of The Five Armies’. It will land in cinemas in December 2013.

Shifting our attention to the closer ‘There and Back Again’, the timeframe inbetween the second and third will be considerably smaller with a July 2014 release date pencilled. WB’s domestic distribution President Dan Fellman confirmed that they ‘wanted to have a shorter gap’ and declared that ‘opening in July affords us not only the perfect Summer tentpole, but fans will have less time to wait for the finale of this epic adventure’.
