In Cinemas This Week
In Cinemas: 14th-20th April
With just a week remaining before the release of Marvels Avengers:Assemble, it was unlikely there would be many big releases in terms of box office competition.
Instead we are left with a selection of smaller films that provide a good mix of drama and action. Throw the new releases into the mix with the features still going strong in Cinemas such as The Hunger Games, The Pirates! and Titanic 3D and there’s pretty much something for everything this week leading up to Friday 20th April
APRIL 20th 2012
A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom
if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates
Directed by: James Mather, Stephen St. Leger
Stars: Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace
Certificate: 15
Lockout has actually enjoyed quite a well received build up despite its absolutely ridiculous plot, Guy Pearce has some interesting roles of late and is starring inthe fast approaching Prometheus so he certainly brings a degree of respectability to the proceedings. His co-star, Maggie Grace has also made her way up the credibility ladder and with be starring in the final Twilight installment.
Verdict This is shaping up to be a half decent actionista, maybe a little far fetched but could be an enjoyable 100 minutes of your weekend!
Salmon Fishing In The Yemen
A fisheries expert is approached by a consultant to help realize a sheik’s vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing
to the desert and embarks on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible possible.
Diercted by: Lasse Hallström
Starring: Ewan McGregor. Emily Blunt
Certificate: 12a
Salmon Fishing In The Yemen had a relatively low key reception in its opening week in America and I can’t see it being a big hit in the UK either. It certainly offers a different genre for this weeks releases, the Rom-Com/Drama can entertain the wives, mothers and sisters of the men and boys who head off to watch Lockout
Verdict: Hopefully, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen will be a slightly above average addition to the already swelling genre of Rom-Com
