Ice Age Provides Spidey A Cool-Off At The Box Office!
It may be into its fourth installment, but the eclectic animated powerhouse of Sid, Diego, Manny and Scrat continue to pull in the punters. Ending Spidey’s not so amazing reign of one week at the top of the heap, ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ scored $46 million. In comparison with its predecessors, it edged the previous ‘Dawn Of The Dinosaurs’ opening salvo of $41.7 million.
With no other wide release on offer, it is clear that Hollywood is bracing itself for a mighty opening for next week’s grand finale of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy. With such hype surrounding the film, many will be intrigued to see if it can outmuscle ‘Avengers Assemble”s formidable start back in May.
Shifting the focus from DC to Marvel, ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ held firm in second place with $35 million and has now passed the $200 million mark in the US.
