Gina Rodriguez, Will Forte, Tracy Morgan, and Frank Welker Join Scooby-Doo Movie Cast
Actors Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), and voice-acting legend Frank ‘Megatron’ Welker (The Transformers: The Movie) have all joined the cast of Warner Bros. Animation’s forthcoming Scooby-Doo movie.
Tony Cervone (The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown) is on board to direct the feature, which will be Mystery Inc.’s first trip to the big screen since 2004’s live-action Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
Rodriguez has reportedly signed on to voice brains of the operation Velma, whilst Forte will play Scoob’s best-friend (and towering sandwich-eating partner-in-crime) Shaggy. Morgan, interestingly enough, will not be playing a character from the Scooby-Doo mythos, but instead will be drawing from the larger Hanna-Barbera canon as the rabid, aggressive man-out-of-time Captain Caveman. Finally, Frank Welker – who voiced Fred on the original 1969-1970 animated series – will provide the vocalisations of the titular crime-solving Great Dane.
The film will reportedly sees the mystery-solving gang joining forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe in order to save their world from the evil Dick Dastardly and his criminal compadre Muttley.
The untitled Scooby-Doo animated film is due for release in May 2020.
