Ford/Spielberg Back For Indiana Jones 5

The top-tier at Disney and Lucasfilm seem on a mission to revive every lucrative franchise involving one Harrison Ford. Already a crucial component of J.J Abrams’ well-received and multiple record-breaker Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Han Solo, the Blade Runner actor is now set to crack the whip once again as another beloved hero.

Re-teaming with the incomparable Steven Spielberg (The BFG released later this year), it has been confirmed that a fifth instalment of Indiana Jones is in development and will be released on July 19th 2019.

Seemingly eager to write the wrongs of the fourth entry The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, at first glance this seems a tall order for its leading man who will be 77 by the time the film is released, without any initial plot details for fans to digest.

Yet with the likes of Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall also back on board to produce, it’s tough not to be excited by what lies in store for the well-renowned archaeologist. The enthusiasm is very much shared by Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. He said in their official statement:

‘Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.’
