The Favourite Lives Up To Its Name, As The BAFTA Nominations Are Announced
The BAFTA nominations were officially announced today, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ historical dramedy The Favourite is the clear winner so far, with a whopping eleven nominations; including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Best Director, and Best Actress nominations, both leading and supporting, for Olivia Colman and Emma Stone respectively.
Musical delights A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody also lead the pack, with a combined fourteen BAFTA nominations between them. Indeed, most of the list makes for fairly standard reading, with familiar awards-show faces Green Book, BlacKkKlansman, Roma, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Cold War all netting multiple bids.
Finally, for those on the look out for Black Panther’s Oscar chances, the BAFTA announcements haven’t bode well for the king of Wakanda, with just one nomination for special effects. You can read the full list below:
