End Of Watch Victorious In Hard Fought Box Office Battle!
Despite none of the new entries Stateside this weekend scraping past the $15 million mark, it proved to be a tightly contested battle for the top spot.
The glory was bestowed upon Jake Gyllenhaal and company as cop drama ‘End Of Watch’ triumphed with $13.1 million, already reclaiming it’s wholesome budget ($7 million) on home turf. Settling for runner up, was Jennifer Lawrence’s first but critically slaughtered delve into horror ‘House At The End With The Street’ with $12.2 million. Completing the top three was Clint Eastwood/Amy Adams’ latest ‘Trouble With The Curve’, taking a respectable $12.1 million.
Spare a thought however for Karl Urban’s Dredd. It may be a box office smash here in the UK, but sadly it didn’t translate over in the US as the 2000AD character settled for sixth position and only a $6.2 million taking.
