Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson To Revive Hercules!
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson seems to be the go-to man in reviving characters/franchises that looked devoid of life. Bringing his imposing frame and undeniable charisma to the likes of the Fast and Furious and soon to be the GI Joe sequel starring alongside Bruce Willis, he’s now set to tackle a legend of mythical folklore.
It has been confirmed today, that the WWE wrestler turned actor will tackle the role of Hercules in a reimagining co-produced by Paramount and MGM respectively.
The character has been gracing the big screen since the early 1950s, including a Disney animated feature with this interpretation firmly based on the graphic novel from 2008, ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’.
With production to begin early next year, Paramount and MGM have wasted little time in confirming their director. Perhaps promopting instant reservations, Hercule’s helmer will be Mr Brett Ratner. Ratner is of course renowned for the buddy cop comedy trilogy ‘Rush Hour’ and taking over Bryan Singer’s beloved X Men for ‘The Last Stand’ installment, which is widely regarded as the weakest entry.
