Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ To Undergo 3D Conversion!
Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro has been rather vocal in the past in regards his opinions on 3D. It was only a year ago at Comic Con where he was doing the promotional rounds for his latest monster/robot blockbuster ‘Pacific Rim’, he declared that he wanted no post production conversion.
Elaborating on this, he said at the time: ‘I didn’t want to make the movie 3D because when you have things that big, the things that happen naturally is you’re looking at two buildings at 300 feet. If you move, the buildings don’t go like this (moves his hands closer together), there’s no parallax.’
Sadly for Del Toro, Warner Bros seemed to have disregarded such a request and declared that the film WILL be given the eye-popping treatment. The production company have acknowleged that with much of the action taking place within Asia, they believe it would boost the appeal and the box office returns.
The film will debut in the UK on July 12th 2013!
