Del Toro Dripfeeds Details Of Future Projects!
With fans of the much loved director eagerly anticipating the first footage of his 2013 summer blockbuster ‘Pacific Rim’ starring Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam to debut within the week, Guillermo Del Toro (Pans Labyrinth) has wasted little time in clarifying his short term schedule.
Legendary Pictures must be impressed with what they’ve seen already of his monster versus robot (Kaiju versus Jaeger in this particular film) mashup, as Del Toro is already set to co-write a script for a potential sequel with Travis Beecham. Whilst behind the camera of course for the first installment, it remains unclear whether he will take the reins for the follow-up. Taking into account the big budget and bloated flops of this year i.e. John Carter, let’s hope such a move doesn’t prove misguided.
Shifting into more conventional territory for the Hellboy helmer, he has also been confirmed to handle another project for Legendary in the form of ‘Crimson Peak’. A haunted house premise at its core and perhaps trying to make up for the underhwleming ‘Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark’, the film is not set to begin production until the early stages of 2014.
Pacific Rim will debut on the 12th of July 2013!
