Critics Choice Awards 2014: The Winners
As patterns start to emerge in the run up to the Oscars, the results of the recent Critics Choice Movie Awards come as no big surprise. Gravity picked up the most awards, with seven in total, followed by American Hustle with four and 12 Years a Slave with 3, the latter winning Best Film. Dallas Buyers Club once again picked up Best Actor and Supporting Actor, while Leo DiCaprio and Amy Adams won Best Comedy Actor & Actress.
Are we all just overlooking how American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street are defined as comedies? Righto.
The full list of winners can also be found on the Critics Choice Awards website. So what does this say about the Oscars? Like most awards between now and March 2nd, the safe categories will be reaffirmed while the unpredictable categories will continue to be a mixed bag, such as Supporting Actress which was given to Lupita Nyong’o. Though these awards do not have a massive direct influence on the Oscars, they do, at least this year, indicate what to expect.
