Burton’s Pinocchio Reimagining Gathering Pace!

Despite it’s modest box office takings, Frankenweenie signalled a welcome return to form for its director and lover of all things gothic, Tim Burton. Now considering the critical reception of his reimaginings of ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Alice In Wonderland’, you wouldn’t have blamed Burton for steering clear from beloved children’s favourites. However, he has been circulating around another age old classic he believes is ripe for a rework.

Based on the story by Carlos Collodi, it’s Pinocchio and Warner Bros. have been trying to get the project off the ground since the latter stages of 2011. With a key gripe being the underwhelming script, they seem to have addressed this issue according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It is set to be tinkered with by well renowned redhead Jane Goldman, who has handled the likes of The Woman In Black starring HP himself Daniel Radcliffe and Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Stardust’. The original draft was written by TV show Pushing Daisies’ Bryan Fuller.

From a casting perspective, only one major name is heavily attached to the project. The man in question is none other than Robert Downey ‘Iron Man’ Jr, who is mulling over taking the role of toymaker Geppetto.
