With Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader all confirmed to be new additions as Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Ultron respectively, it’s evident that director Joss Whedon is stacking the deck for the hotly anticipated sequel to ‘Avengers Assemble, ‘Age Of Ultron’.

With Loki played by Tom Hiddleston not returning, there’s quite the gap to fill on the villain front. Not shy of inspired casting decisions at Marvel, it has been confirmed that Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men/Labor Day) will be tackling the role of Thanos, a character teased in Assemble’s post-credits sequence.

This will of course have ramifications for a fellow Marvel franchise, in the form of James Gunn’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ which hits the UK on 31st July 2014, already boasting an eclectic cast including WWE star Dave Bautista and Chris Pratt. Admittedly, Brolin hasn’t been on the strongest run in recent times, with Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ remake and Ruben Flesicher’s ‘Gangster Squad’ far from critical or box office successes.

In addition, Brolin’s previous delve into such a world was disappointing DC adaptation ‘Jonah Hex’, which may leave Marvel fans initially concerned. In such esteemed company however and possessing the talent he clearly has, this is a major role that is an ideal platform to revive Brolin’s flagging fortunes and redeem himself in the eyes of comic book die-hards.

‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ will arrive in cinemas on April 24th 2015.
