on

Casinos feature in a number of films for the simple reason that gaming is popular with so many and it can, quite simply, change someone’s life. Rating the best casino scenes will always be a matter for debate and will depend on whether you focus on the game playing itself or the overall feel of the scenes. The films below are a mix of those most frequently rated as the best at showing the various sides of casinos and those involved in the casino world.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (1998) stars Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. It follows a journalist and an attorney to Las Vegas as they search for the American dream. Although it does not have that much casino time, it puts those scenes within a wider context for the lives of the two players and their motivations.

Ocean’s 11 (2001) stars Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. It tells the story of a heist to rob three top Las Vegas casinos. It gives a good look around a casino and it’s workings as well as the view from the luxury end of the scale.

Casino Royale (2006) stars Daniel Craig as the latest James Bond. Although not regarded as one of the bestBond films, many agree that the casino scene in this film, featuring a high stakes poker game, is in amongst the best casino scenes out there.

Casino (1995) stars Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci and shows the underworld mob side of gambling and the beginnings of casinos in Las Vegas. It shows the grittier side of things and is regarded as one of the all-time best casino themed films. None of these films actually shows online casino playing, but as this has become so internationally popular it is surely only a matter of time.
