Behind Closed Doors with Actor Špiro Lasic

Špiro Lasic is an actor from Croatia, a wholesome country on south of Europe. Špiro has been developing his acting and performance techniques for over 10 years in best Croatian drama youth theatre ZKM. He has starred in multiple plays which acquired him the necessary confidence and presentation skills for acting on film and television. During iPOP! in January, Špiro played the role of Raoul in the runway show ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ which took place in Hollywood.

Narrowing his interests made him choose between studying math and acting, which still gives him a hard time distinguishing only one favorite field. Why not both? After getting his college degree he’s planning on becoming the youngest Academy award winner hailing from Croatia.

Welcome Špiro, if you could book any film or TV show what would it be and why?

My dream project is to have a movie/TV franchise of my own. Picture this, a series based on a comic book secret agent ALAN FORD. Why him? I learned how to read because of him. And I still nowadays catch myself sometimes being thoughtlessly lost in those comic books. Through their dark humor they taught me how the world works and how to get ahead of it. I mean, really you should read it. Or don’t. Watch me.

Who are your favorite singers?

My favorite singers are Mac Miller, Billy Joel, Sade and Kurt Cobain. I have two main focuses whilst listening to music. First focus is interpreting the way each song makes your soul feel. Second focus is pure lyricism. With those two focal points being on the same wavelength, music has a healing power. I’d like to give an honorable mention to rapper Snoop Dogg.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

My best go to movie of all time is probably ‘Pulp Fiction’. I cannot recall how many times I have watched it. I guess it has something to do with the dialogue, it’s hilarious. But the one movie I always watch when I’m feeling down is ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslett.

What would you say is your pet peeve?

For me, not being on time. Everybody has 1440 minutes in a day. Why do you think yours are so much more valuable than mine. This portrays amount of respect you have for people. Be on time! Or have a good excuse!

What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?

I am an active member of Mensa International Society. I have been training judo and self-defense since kindergarten and I have acquired a brown belt (one less than black, working on it). Once a week I attend a pub quiz with company consisting of my brother and father, and we always do great!
