Awards Winners: 2016 Venice Film Festival
The winners of the 73rd Venice Film Festival have been announced, putting both La La Land and Nocturnal Animals in good stead for their upcoming awards run. The former scooped Best Actress in the Volpi Cup competition for Emma Stone, while the latter picked up the Grand Jury Prize.
Festivals typically recognise a more eclectic fare than your normal awards, so it’s not surprising to see a lack of other Oscar contenders in the mix. However, those that did pick up an award can get their campaign off to a reassuring, critically acclaimed start.
