Anna Boden/Ryan Fleck To Direct Captain Marvel
Marvel sure do love their dynamic directorial duos. We’ve already seen how integral Joe and Anthony Russo are to their plans, as their highly-praised involvement on Captain America instalments ‘The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Civil War’ ultimately earned them the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ gig.
Now it is the turn of Mississippi Grind’s Anna Boden (It’s Kind Of A Funny Story) and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson) to join forces and enter the blockbusting superhero arena, as they have been confirmed to helm the upcoming big-screen debut of Captain Marvel.
In what will be the studio’s first full female-led film headed up by Brie Larson who starred in Jordan Vogts-Roberts’ King Kong: Skull Island earlier this year, it’s certainly a significant step up in scale for Boden and Fleck.
Yet they possess plenty of proven small-screen pedigree together, with their involvement in critically-acclaimed shows The Affair and Billions, with Fleck’s solo efforts on Looking also a worthy mention.
On scriptwriting duty will be Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians Of The Galaxy), with the film pencilled in for a March 2019 release.
