Alan Tudyk To Voice Iago In Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin
Disney’s lucky charm, the inimitable Alan Tudyk, has signed on to voice Iago the parrot in director Guy Ritchie’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin.
Iago will be Tudyk’s eighth voice role for Disney, following his turns as King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph (2012), the Duke of Weselton in Frozen (2013), Alexander Krei in Big Hero 6 (2014), Duke Weaselton in Zootropolis (2016), the reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Heihei the chicken in Moana (2016), and Knowsmore in 2018’s Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Gilbert Gottfried voiced the wise-cracking and exasperated Iago – named after the Shakespeare villain from Othello – in the 1992 original animated classic. Tudyk can presently be heard as the narrator / Mr. Nobody in DC’s Doom Patrol.
Aladdin is eyeing a 24th of May release date.
