Academy Shortlist 10 Visual Effects Contenders
The Academy has just announced the shortlist of 10 films eligible for nomination in the Visual Effects category. Gravity has to be the favorite considering Warner Bros had to invent the technology, but there is an abundance of special effects blockbusters including Elysium, and Brad Pitt’s troubled World War Z even sneaks in. Following this shortlist, all members of the visual effects branch of the Academy will be invited to view ten minute samples of each movie before casting their nomination ballots.
The nominations for the 86th Academy Awards will be announced on Thursday January 16th, where up to 5 visual effects nominees will be announced. Here are the 10 candidates.
