20th Century Fox Developing Film Version Of Monty Python’s ‘Spamalot’
The Holy Grail. The Life Of Brian. The Meaning Of Life.
Widely regarded comedy classics birthed by the sextet of John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Graham Chapman, Michael Palin and Terry Jones. Otherwise known as Monty Python.
Well. If you were always looking on the bright side of life and hoping for another film offering of their work. You are in luck, as 20th Century Fox have confirmed that they will be bringing ‘Spamalot’ to the big screen.
A musical that heavily parodies ‘The Holy Grail’, the original Broadway production back in 2005 directed by the late Mike Nichols (The Birdcage) was a smash, garnering 14 Tony Award nominations.
Idle will be penning the script for the film, with Casey Nicholaw set to direct. Nicholaw has been a key figure in the success of various stage musicals, including The Book Of Mormon with Trey Parker and more recently the theatre version of 2004 film Mean Girls.
Fox are looking to begin production in Spring 2019.
