Terence Winter, a man who wrote 19 episodes of The Sopranos will be taking over script duties.
If that doesn’t get you excited, how about the fact that he wrote Wolf of Wall Street? How about the fact that he created Boardwalk Empire and Vinyl? Yeah, this guy knows his cocaine.
When we first wrote about the upcoming remake, Jonathan Herman, the writer ofStraight Outta Compton, was working on the screenplay. He had taken it over from David Ayer. Now Winter is taking a crack. We’ll see if his draft is the one that shoots.
Winter is busy as hell—he also has separate LeBron James and Mike Tyson biopics on the way.
Antoine Fuqua, the director of Training Day and last week’s hit The Magnificent Sevenwill still direct. Unfortunately, it looks like the film will still be set in Los Angeles rather than Miami. But you never know, maybe Winter can slap some sense into these people.
