Initially making his name in the Australian outback with The Proposition, slowly growing in stature with his big-screen adaptation of post-apocalyptic novel The Road and period crime drama Lawless, director John Hillcoat returns with heist thriller Triple 9.
In the explosive debut trailer, we witness many of its morally questionable ensemble looking to successfully complete an audacious heist, whilst temporarily looking dead ringers for Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed crime-fighter Deadpool.
Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Kate Winslet (The Dressmaker), Aaron Paul (Need For Speed), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Casey Affleck (Interstellar) and Gal Gadot (Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice).
Triple 9 is released across the UK on February 19th 2016.
Here’s the synopsis:
‘When a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist, they realise the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. The chaos that ensues when a police officer is shot in the line of duty is just the diversion they’ll need to do the job, but whether they have the will to kill one of their own is an entirely different matter, triggering a breakneck, action packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.’
