With production due to start later this year, it was today announced that the new Star Wars film will be partly shot in Britain, returning the series to its British roots after parts of the original six films were filmed in the UK.
The latest announcement comes after a series of rumours and talk surrounding the new episodes. original stars such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have been rumoured to be appearing in the new instalment and original composer John Williams has been linked with a return to write the soundtrack.
A statement from Disney’s Lucasfilm president said that the team had ‘devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie.’
