Speaking tonight at the Marrakech International Film Festival, where he attended to present long-time friend and colleague Robert De Niro with the Golden Star Award, Director Martin Scorsese confirmed that his latest project, also starring De Niro, was completed.

When talking about his work with De Niro, Scorsese said ‘We’ve finished our latest project together ‘I Heard You Paint Houses’ or ‘The Irishman’ it has two names…’

‘I hope we can work together on more projects, we’ve known each other since we were teenagers growing up in the same neighbourhood’

The Irishman is set for release by Netflix in 2019

Scorsese also reminisced about his friendship with De Niro, explaining ‘when we talk on set, the assistant director is afraid to interrupt in case we’re talking about the flm or character development, when really we’re just old friends catching up, having a chat. Often about a new restaurant, a new play or mostly, nowadays, paint!’

De Niro receiving his Golden Star Award, delivered an impassioned speech following a three-minute long standing ovation, touching on subjects such as diversity in the arts and the diabolical nationalism in America
