Since day one we were told that Saw: Legacy wasn’t the official title of the eighth Saw film. Even when it went into production we were being told that it would probably change and that Legacy was tentative. Now in post-production for release on October 27, 2017, Lionsgate has confirmed to Bloody Disgusting the official title to the film as JIGSAW!

Jigsaw, of course, is Tobin Bell‘s Saw character who, after learning of an inoperable frontal lobe tumor that had developed from colon cancer, creates horrific traps in order to help “lost” individuals find their lust for life again. Jigsaw is also the perfect title being that franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell had revealed years ago that Saw‘s original title was in fact, yes, Jigsaw. Talk about coming full circle.

In the film…

Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

The new chapter in the long-running saga has been rated “R” for “Grisly Bloody Violence and Torture.”

We understand that neither Costas Mandylor nor Cary Elwes will be returning to play their respective characters, who both ended up becoming Jigsaw apprentices in earlier installments. As for the original Jigsaw himself, we’ve been told that Tobin Bell will be back in some capacity.

The cast also includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.
