Five Time Oscar-Nominated Actor Albert Finney Dies Aged 82



British Actor Albert Finney, best known for his Oscar-nominated roles in Tom Jones, Murder on the Orient Express and Erin Brockovich has passed away aged 82 his publicist has confirmed.

Finney’s film career began in 1960 in The entertainer alongside Laurence Ilivier and in 1963 he earned the first of his four Academy Award Best Actor nominations.

He followed that up with further Best Actor nominations in Murder on the Orient Express, The Dresser and Under The Volcano. His performance in Steven Soderbergh’s Erin Brockovich meanwhile, was deserving of a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

He was a mainstay of television dramas too, winning a BAFTA for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in The Gathering Storm.

His final film role came alongside James Bond in Skyfall as the gameskeeper of the Bond family estate in Scotland.
