Film Fans Assemble! Prop Store’s December Auction Has Some Amazing Items Up For Grabs!

Published

We’d be lying if we said we never fantasized about having an actual lightsaber. You don’t even have to be a fan of movies to know what one is. So you can imagine our excitement when we found out you could own one that was actually used in the Star Wars films…

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber is just one of the incredible lots up for auction on the 1st and 2nd December. The auction ran by Prop Store, will have more than 900 items going under the hammer that are expected to fetch in excess of £4.4 million ($5.6 million)!

Now some of these may be for the more die-hard collector and some of the estimates can be a little daunting, but there really is something for everyone with the auction covering a huge array of film genres and generations.

We’ve picked out some of our favourites below, but you can check out the full auction catalogue here

OBI-WAN KENOBI’S (EWAN MCGREGOR) HERO LIGHTSABER FROM STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH (2005)

Estimated at £80,000 – 120,000 ($103,000 – 155,000)

This is one of the highlights of the auction for us. Star Wars fans around the world are bound to be interested in this iconic piece of memorabilia. Have we all pretended to use a cucumber as a lightsaber? Yes… Are we now in our late-20’s still doing this? You can make your own mind up on that one…

There are a number of other lightsabers up for grabs too, with Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader Hero Lightsaber along with Christopher Lee’s Count Dooku production-made saber which is valued at £4000-6000.

‘MAVERICK’ (TOM CRUISE) BOMBER JACKET FROM TOP GUN (1986)

Estimated at £12,000 -16,000 ($15,000 – 21,000)

‘I feel the need, the need for speed’ is one of cinema’s most memorable quotes and it’s easy to imagine pulling on Maverick’s bomber jacket, taking out a pair of aviators and saying those immortal words. Every young boy in the 80’s wanted to be Tom Cruise, now you’ve got the chance to get as close to the real thing as possible…

While we’re all waiting for Top Gun 2 to hit cinemas next year (fingers crossed) this may pass the time. If you need us we’ll be perfecting our barrel rolls.

NEO’S (KEANU REEVES) COMPLETE COSTUME FROM THE MATRIX RELOADED (2003)

ESTIMATED: £40,000 – 60,000 ($52,000 – 78,000)

From one iconic look, to the next. Neo donned this outfit in The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions as he took on the responsibility of being ‘The One’. Now it’s someone else’s turn to be The One by owning this incredible part of sci-fi movie history. The Matrix series is soon to have a fourth instalment, so pieces from the Wachowski’s legacy are be even more sought after in the coming months/years.

Plus, once you own the outfit, the incredible bullet dodging and mile high jumps will come naturally (we guess).

This isn’t the only prop from The Matrix Reloaded in the auction either. Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith’s sunglasses are there, as are Trinity’s (Carrie Anne-Moss). These are perhaps more affordable with estimates of £4000-6000 & £6000-8000 respectively.
